   Updating the MapSpeller™ Software

Edgetech America, Inc. is continuously evolving and improving the MapSpeller software. Therefore, users are expected to participate in its maintenance program. One of the benefits of this program is the availability of  updates at no additional cost via website downloads. Maintenance also includes free technical support.

To see if you should update, you should first know what version of MapSpeller is installed on your PC. MapSpeller versions are identified by the first two numbers in their release number while MapSpeller builds are identified by the third number. For example, MapSpeller 4.1.4101 corresponds to MapSpeller version 4.1 with the build number 4101. Versions identify the available software end-user functionality or architecture, while build numbers identify software changes aimed at improving the way the software implements this functionality (including bug fixes).

Updating MapSpeller ArcMap add-ins doesn't require Windows administrative rights. When updating from another MapSpeller 4.x version, you should only update the add-in component of MapSpeller and leave the spell-checker Windows installation as is. It is highly recommended that you first delete the old add-in version (ArcMap > Customize > Add-In Manager) and close ArcMap. Then follow the instructions provided by the download wizard on the Edgetech America website at www.MapSpeller.com.

The customized data files remain intact when updating. Updating from one build to a newer one within a version doesn't require new keycodes; updating from one version to another may. Updating to MapSpeller 4.1 from previous versions requires users to update their license keycodes.
