Controlling What Is Spell Checked

Users control the MapSpeller spelling behavior by setting the spelling options, They control what should be spell checked from the two combo boxes on the MapSpeller toolbar. The first version of MapSpeller only spell checks annotation graphics (left combo box (#1)) within either:

  • The whole layout page, including all its data frames (maps)
  • The layout page, except any of its data frames
  • The focus map (active data frame)

In addition, the MapSpeller engine will only spell check visible text object and those with containers that are at least partially within the layout page extent. Because of a defect in ArcMap (see Known Issues), this rule may not be implemented consistently.
