MapSpeller supports conventional dictionary-based spell checking
but also offers several ways of handling the
challenges
specific to spell checking
maps (patent pending), including by:
- Inventing
Locationaries™,
spatially-smart dictionaries.
- Using
customizable danger dictionaries. Danger dictionaries are
dictionaries of correctly
spelled words that one would typically not see in maps. Those words
could be misspellings for other words. For
example, "sight" could be a misspelled "site", "pubic" would
probably be a misspelling for "public", etc.
- Letting users focus on specific map objects through
The MapSpeller extension's
toolbar.
-
Exclusively spell-checking the visible portion
of a map document. User can control what text is visible and
therefore what should be spell checked and to what geographic extent.
-
Spell checking in batch mode. All errors are found and reported in a
single dialog thereby increasing user productivity.
