  Using Locationaries™ in Layouts

Locationary words used to spell check data frames can also be used as conventional dictionaries to spell check words on the layout itself.

For example, let's consider that the word "Monticello" is present in a layout's title. Let's also assume that the location-bound word "Monticello" (The name of U.S. President Thomas Jefferson's estate) is not in any active dictionary but is in an active Locationary.

  • With this option disabled, "Monticello" in the title would be considered a potential error and the word "Monticello" would not be offered as a replacement suggestion in the Potential Error dialog.
  • With this option enabled however, "Monticello" in the title would be considered correctly spelled if it also appeared in a map.

Important Note

This functionality is only available when "Layout Page" is selected on the MapSpeller toolbar and the Locationary option is turned on in the Options dialog (either the "Visible Extent" or "Radius" option).
