ArcView 3.x StreetMap Extensions

Edgetech America, Inc. resells both the StreetMap and StreetMap 2000 extensions to ArcView GIS. Both extensions include street and landmark data from GDT, one of the leading street address provider in USA.

The data are packaged specifically for ArcView GIS. This tight integration of data and software enables ArcView and its users to conveniently control how much map detail and labeling is automatically rendered at various scales. This makes it easy to visualize the data. 

In addition, a nationwide geocoder is included with both extensions that lets users to "put a dot on the map" at addresses from a database or keyed in.

The main differences between the two extensions are:

• The data update cycle. StreetMap 2000 is updated annually while StreetMap is not,

• The spatial and attribute accuracy of the streets,

• Cost. StreetMap 2000 is about 20 times more expensive than the regular version. And it may well be worth it, for example, to those organizations doing business in, or being impacted by, new neighborhoods.

Both data sets are provided in the Geographic reference system (Latitude/longitude) using the North American Datum 83 (NAD 83).

Please note that ArcGIS has its own StreetMap extensions. One must use the version corresponding to the core product.
